Frequently Asked Questions
What area do you cover?
Although we are based in Sedgefield Borough, we actually cover the whole of County Durham. We frequently collect and deliver in Weardale and Teesdale as well as the rest of the Durham dales.
Can you collect/deliver?
Yes of course, but even though we now have additional transport, we still need more volunteer drivers, so please be patient and we'll do our best to help.
What items do you accept?
Well, most things that are in good condition and working. We can take anything which you might find in the home, including furniture (note that by law we can't take beds or upholstered items which don't have a fire resistant label); Electrical & Kitchen appliances (we do safety check these); clothes; books; toys & clothes.
Am I eligible?
Almost certainly, we don't discriminate in any way, and our aim is only to help people who because of circumstances wouldn't be able to afford to buy the items they need
How much does it cost?
We're not a shop, and unlike some organisations we don't have fixed prices. The price we charge has to reflect how much it has cost us to collect, repair and then deliver the item to you, as well as a small contribution to help us pay the rent; phones etc. We do however try to take account of your personal circumstances, and you can be sure that you're getting quality goods at far less than you'd be able to buy elsewhere
When are you open?
We are open Monday to Thursday from 10am until 3pm, on Friday from 10am until 5pm, and on Saturday from 10am until 2pm. For details of how to find us, please see our Contact Us page or phone during these hours on 01388 721509
